Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

 
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga that has a set sequence of postures that students learn to memorise over time. You can learn this sequence in one of two ways – learn ashtanga yoga Mysore style were you would add new postures once you have completed the sun satultations A and B and the full standing sequence before moving into the closing sequence. You can also attend led classes were the teacher gives a detailed talk through of the sequence. Some teachers, such as Peter Askew have changed the sequence to include backbends and also removed some of the more difficult postures until the body has been strengthened to the point where you are stronger and more flexible to reduce the risk of injury. The fundamental aspects of this practice are drishti (where your gaze is placed) Breathing with sound and the Bandha’s (internal locks).
